Celebrity Big Brother 2016: Angie Bowie quits show due to 'feeling unwell'
Celebrity Big Brother contestant Angie Bowie has quit the reality show, Channel 5 has confirmed. A spokesperson for the network stated that "after being unwell for a few days, Angie Bowie has decided to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House". At the moment, it is unknown exactly why she was ill, however the insider also added that details surrounding her departure will be explained in the live show on 19 January.
Last week, Bowie was called into the Diary Room and informed that her ex-husband, the musician David Bowie, had died. The network controversially showed footage of the 66-year-old crying after hearing the news which was met with some negativity from the public who said the moment should have been private.
Bowie isn't the only celebrity to have left the competition prematurely either. On 18 January producer and television personality David Gest quit the show citing "medical reasons" as the cause after having been in the house for only 13 days.
Before him, gossip writer and Kim Kardashian's best friend Jonathan Cheban exited the house after saying he felt increasingly "edgy and claustrophobic". Eventually he explained in the Diary Room that he suffers from anxiety and felt like he was "going to have a heart attack" before leaving the show for good. He lasted only five days in the house.
Reality star Tiffany Pollard has now become the last remaining US contestant in the house, but her time on CBB could come to an end tonight (19 January) during the eviction. The show will be broadcast at 9pm, with former EastEnders stars Danniella Westbrook and John Partridge, Strictly Come Dancing's Kristina Rihanoff and as mentioned, I Love New York's Pollard all eligible to be voted out. As always, Emma Willis will present the show, mixing live coverage with footage from yesterday that will elaborate on Bowie's decision to leave.
