A police officer in the Met will appear in court to face child pornography charges.

PC Adam Holbrook, 28, was charged with making 16 indecent images of children.

Officers from the Met's Paedophile Unit arrested Holbrook at an address in Essex.

The arrest followed an investigation by police that lasted months. Holbrook was suspended from duty in May.

The alleged images were "level one", a Scotland Yard spokesman said. That means pictures of erotic posing but with no sexual activity.

Level five is most serious, according to classification criteria by the Sentencing Guidance Council.

Holbrook has been bailed to appear at Westminster magistrates court on 17 September.
