Samsung Galaxy S3 Vs Huawei Ascend D LTE: Can Huawei's 4G LTE Smartphone Take Down Next Galaxy?
Huawei's LTE smartphone, Ascend D LTE, will be available in Europe and Asia Pacific by July 2012.
Chinese manufacturer Huawei, in an effort to expand its presence in the European market, introduced the 4G LTE Huawei Ascend D LTE at the 2012 Mobile World Congress (MWC). The Ascend D LTE should be available in Europe by July 2012. In terms of specifications, the smartphone will feature a 4.5in HD touchscreen and a dual-core processor.
Samsung's Galaxy S3 (read IBTimes UK's hands-on review here), was released in the UK on 30 May and is set for a US release later this month.

Display
The Huawei Ascend D LTE features a 4.5in LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The Galaxy S3 features a 4.8in Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 2. The display has TouchWiz User Interface (UI) v4.0. The resolution is similar to the Ascend D LTE, at 720 x 1280 pixels with a pixel density of 306 ppi.
Dimension
The Ascend D will measure 132 x 65.5 x 10.5mm and weigh 140g whereas the Galaxy S3 measures 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6mm and weighs 133g.
Operating System
The Ascend D will run on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The S3 runs on an updated version - Android 4.0.4.
Processor
The Ascend D will be powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and has 1GB of RAM. The Galaxy S3 is powered by the Exynos 4 quad-core processor, clocked at 1.4GHz, with 1GB of RAM. The US variants will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 dual-core processor and will pack 2GB of RAM.
Camera
The Ascend D features a 12 megapixel main camera with dual-LED flash and auto-focus. It can capture videos in 1080p and the handset sports a 1.3megapixel front-facing camera.
The Galaxy S3's primary camera is an eight megapixel unit featuring auto-focus, LED flash, simultaneous HD video and image recording, geo-tagging, touch-focus, face and smile detection and image stabilisation. The camera can record video in 1080p and 30 frames per second (fps). The handset packs a secondary camera of 1.9 megapixels, which can record video in 720p at 30 fps
Connectivity
The Ascend D will offer Wi-Fi, DLNA, Near Field Communication (NFC), Bluetooth version 3.0, LTE and will connect to 4G network speeds. The Galaxy S3 offers Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi HT40, NFC and Bluetooth v4.0 and, of course, 4G network speeds.
Storage
The Ascend D offers internal storage space of 4GB and will support microSD card for an additional 64GB. The Galaxy S3 comes in two models - 16/32GB; a 64GB version is expected soon. The smartphone also has microSD card slots.
Battery
The Ascend D will be powered by a 2000mAh battery while the Galaxy S3 has a Li-ion 2100mAh battery.
