Leicester are two for two in the Champions League after crowing their first home game in this competition at home with a win tonight. Tottenham have also dusted themselves off nicely since falling to Monaco a fortnight ago, securing a narrow but deserved win away at CSKA Moscow.
Unsurprisingly, the game of the night came at the Westfalenstadion where Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid shared the points after a thrilling 2-2 draw.
Ousmane Dembele has been causing Real Madrid all manor of problems this evening and he has just now turned Danilo inside out dancing in from the right. He can't get his effort on target, but Aubameyang can moments later, darting in from the opposite flank. Navas is equal to it however and palms away.
We will be impressed if you have managed it, but if you have missed the breaking news this evening, Sam Allardyce is no longer the England manager. Here's the full story.
Tottenham are edging closer to opening the deadlock. Christian Eriksen manages to escape his marker and the lay the ball off for Dele Alli, but his strike comes back off the cross bar. Moments later, Kieran Trippier picks up a partially cleared corner, whipping the ball into Alderweireld, but his header is straight at Akinfeev.
Of course, today has been dominated by news away from the Champions League. Sam Allardyce's future as England boss looks to be in jeopardy after he was implicated in an undercover sting operation carried out by the Daily Telegraph. The former Sunderland boss and the FA chiefs have been in talks throughout the day, so we will bring you any news from that throughout the evening.
Mauricio Pochettino on his changes to the team tonight.
It's a different competition, we need some fresh legs in the team. We have a strong squad, everyone can play. We have a lot of games to play in different competitions and all the players are important.
"It will be a tough game because they are a good team, the Champions League is always difficult but we are very focused.
Cristiano Ronaldo left the pitch in a huff when he was hauled off against Las Palmas at the weekend but, as expected, he starts again tonight. Casemiro misses out, however.
Real Madrid team to face Borussia Dortmund: Navas; Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Danilo; Kroos, Modric, James; Bale, Ronaldo, Benzema
Mousa Dembele, Moussa Sissoko, Eric Dier, Danny Rose and Harry Kane all failed to make the trip to Moscow, but Pochettino feels comfortable with his options.
We are competitive, now we are a bit unlucky with injuries but we have depth in the squad and it's a good opportunity for the players that don't play too much.
"In football the squad is important, the 25 players are important.
"Now we have some players that are injured but it's important for the squad and the team that all are ready to play," he said.
Harry Kane's injury hasn't been too problematic for Spurs just yet; mainly thanks to Son Heung-min. The South Korea international has struck four goals in three Premier League appearances and his manager has suggested he could be the man selected to lead the line instead of the misfiring Vincent Janssen.
Mauricio Pochettino told reporters this week:
I am happy with him and he is happy with the last few games. He is scoring and playing very well and I am happy with his performances in the last few games. It's one possibility to play with him up front but we have Vincent Janssen too. Both have the possibility to play tomorrow - Vincent or him.
Team news: CSKA Moscow
Alan Dzagoev, CSKA's chief creator could be a doubt for tonight's match. The 26-year-old missed Monday morning's training session after picking up an unspecified knock and CSKA boss Leonid Slutsky told reporters he would hold off making a decision on the attacking midfielder until just before kick-off
Team news: Tottenham
The north Londoners are without both Mousa Dembele and Moussa Sissoko this evening, with the Belgian struggling with a hamstring injury and the Frenchman recovering from a concussion suffered mid-week. Danny Rose meanwhile is still sidelined with a hamstring problem of his own, an injury that has also ruled out Eric Dier. Harry Kane meanwhile is facing a spell on the sidelines with an ankle problem.
After a defeat at home – well, at Wembley – to Monaco in their group opener, Tottenham are looking to bounce back against Champions League regulars CSKA Moscow this evening. Mauricio Pochettino's side have made the trip without five members of their first team but will fancy their chances in the Russian capital tonight.
Leicester sauntered to victory in their first ever Champions League game two weeks ago and tonight the King Power Stadium hosts its first European game. They face their toughest group challengers in Porto, but will take some comfort knowing record signing Islam Slimani used to regularly slay the Dragons as a Sporting player.
They are just two of the eight games kicking off around Europe this evening. We'll have team news for all of them followed by goal updates throughout the night right here.
