Just weeks after rumours first surfaced that Ashton Kutchner had cheated on his wife Demi Moore, the couple have confirmed reports of trouble in paradise by announcing that they are to divorce.

Demi Moore ending weeks of speculation last night after releasing a statement saying that it was 'with a great sadness and a heavy heart' that she was leaving her husband of six years.

Rumours have been rife since September that the couple's marriage was on the rocks following allegations that he had cheated on her with 23-year-old Sara Leal on the Eve of their 6th year anniversary.

The 49-year-old actress, who married the 33-year-old Two and a Half Men star in 2005 said: 'It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton.

'As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.'

'This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation,' she added.
