Divorce episode 3 sees Frances and Robert trying to sort their issues through counselling
The next episode of the new HBO show airs on 23 October at 10pm ET.
Divorce is most often a messy business and HBO's new comedy-drama depicts the various aspects of it – from the painful to the hilarious. Last week, Frances tried her best to get Robert to sit down and talk with her. However, he preferred to keep her at a distance, only allowing her into the house to prevent the children from finding out what was happening between them.
According to the synopsis of episode 3, titled Counselling, Frances (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Robert (Thomas Haden Church) try couples therapy in an attempt to discuss the state of their marriage. Meanwhile, Dallas gives Frances her two cents on how to proceed; and Robert discusses his personal life at work.
The trailer for the episode starts off with Robert telling his wife that he needs his space so she should wait for the elevator to take him to the marriage counsellor's office separately. Yes, this looks like it is going to be a good start to their therapy sessions.
"What would it take to trust me again," Frances asks during their session, but Robert is not ready to discuss the subject seriously since he answers with: "I don't know... a time machine?"
Through the past episodes of the show, we see that Church plays one of the key comic characters (alongside Molly Shannon who takes on the role of Diane). It is through his sardonic sense of humour that we can understand the pain and hurt he is going through after finding out that his wife was cheating on him.
To find out just how their counselling session goes, tune in to episode 3 of Divorce on Sunday, 23 October at 10pm ET on HBO or watch the show live online on the network's official website.
