Donald Trump: Controversial Republican says Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton 'created Isis'
Donald Trump has again fanned the flames of controversy after claiming President Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton "created Isis". The Republican front-runner for the presidential nomination told supporters at a rally in Biloxi, Mississippi, that "They've created Isis. Hillary Clinton created Isis with Obama."
Trump was referring to statements he had made saying Obama should seize the terror group's oil fields and cut off its funding. The GOP's likely candidate for the presidential election opened his address by claiming Iran was attempting to take over Saudi Arabia, hours after the kingdom was roundly condemned for executing 47 Shia prisoners, including cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.
"In Tehran, they're burning down the Saudi embassy, you see that?" Trump asked the crowd. "Now, what that is is Iran wants to take over Saudi Arabia. They always have. They want the oil, OK? They've always wanted that."
The remarks came after Somali militant group al-Shabab used Trump in a propaganda video. The video showed the 69-year-old calling for Muslims to be barred from entering the US; comments he made after the shootings in San Bernardino, California on 2 December.
Trump said the US should impose a "total and complete" shutdown on Muslim immigration until authorities could "figure out" Muslim attitudes toward the US. With regard to the video, he later told US broadcaster CBS, "I have to say what I have to say."
After Trump made the comments, Clinton said his claims was being used by in recruitment videos by Isis and he had become "Isis's best recruiter". Trump poured scorn on Clinton's claim, calling her a liar.
