Is the Donald Trump vs. Megyn Kelly feud back on after he defends Newt Gingrich interview?
The former house speaker had told Kelly 'you are fascinated with sex'.
Donald Trump has praised Republican grandee Newt Gingrich for his outburst at Fox News journalist Megyn Kelly, in which she was told "you are fascinated with sex".
Trump, who has had his own fiery history with Kelly, made the comments following an interview that saw Giuliani defend the GOP nominee over the sexual assault claims that have dogged him over the past few weeks.
Gingrich had told Kelly: "I'm sick and tired of people like you using language that's inflammatory, that's not true," after she raised the question of whether or not Trump was a sexual predator.
And after Kelly said she was not taking a position on the allegations, Gingrich continued: "When you used the words you took a position, I think that's very unfair of you to do that Megyn, I think that's exactly the bias people are upset by.
"You are fascinated with sex and you don't care about public policy," he added.
And following the interview, which ended on Kelly claiming that Gingrich has "anger issues", the former speaker of the House of Representatives refused to go back on his position, gaining support from Trump, who had also previously clashed with the Fox News anchor.
Speaking at the launch of the Trump International Hotel in Washington, the GOP nominee spoke directly to Gingrich, who was in the audience, saying: "Congratulations, Newt, on last night. That was an amazing interview", The Hill reported.
"We don't play games," Trump added.
Trump's ongoing feud with Kelly has mostly ceased in recent months, following an explosive twitter war during primary season, in which the Republican accused the journalist of being a "bimbo" and "biased" against him.
He famously refused to take part in a debate hosted by Kelly, but was later interviewed by the Fox News host and the pair appeared to have buried the hatchet.
