Actress Joanne Froggatt, who portrays the maid Anna Bates on Downtown Abbey, told TV show Conan of the dirty pun she accidentally told the Duchess of Cambridge during the Royal's visit to the show's set last year. Froggatt told host Conan O'Brien that she and co-star Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary Crawley) had to shoot a scene in front of Kate Middleton before they were able to say their greetings.

After finishing their scene, the two actresses spoke to the royal mother-of-two on the set of Lady Mary's bedroom. According to Froggatt, it was then that the Duchess noted how weird it felt to be in the fictional bedroom.

"I said: 'Yeah, not many people get to come in Lady Mary's bedroom,'" Froggatt said. "And then I was like, 'Oh my God. What have I just said?' I've just said something that could be taken really the wrong way...and I thought: 'Do I say? Do I draw attention to it?'"

Thankfully for Froggatt, Kate did not draw attention to the accidental joke.

The actress also spoke on the stress revolving around the Duchess's visit. Security staff for the royal arrived on set days leading up to the visit, complete with sniffer dogs. Froggatt said the actors were repeatedly reminded of Kate's impending arrival. "You're getting more and more nervous every time they come in," she said.

During the Royal's visit to the set of the ITV period drama, she was presented with a posy by one of the cast's youngest members, Zac Barker. She was given a tour of Ealing Studios and took time to pose for an official picture with the show's cast.

Kate, who was eight months pregnant with Princess Charlotte at the time, wore an elegant coast dress from maternity brand Jojo Maman Bebe. She completed her look with a black clutch and matching black heels.
