Activision Publishing has confirmed that its new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has broken its theatrical box office, book and video game five-day sales record, with sales exceeding the $775 million mark.

Based on statistics taken from Charttrack, Activision confirmed that the new Call of Duty boasted the highest sell-through rate ever recorded by the company.

"With $775 million of sales of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in its first five days, Call of Duty has become the first entertainment property in history to set five-day launch records for three consecutive years across all forms of entertainment," said Robert Kotick, CEO, Activision Blizzard.

The record had previously been held by Modern Warfare 3's predecessor, Call of Duty: Black Ops, which boasted $650 million in five-days sales.
