Ellen DeGeneres reignites prank war with Matt Lauer and calls it her 'favourite so far'
The duo has been on a prank war for years now.
Just when fans thought Ellen DeGeneres is done with her same old 'scare the guests' prank, she has done it again. The daytime talk pulled an epic prank on Matt Lauer that took the inattentive guest by surprise. The episode was aired on Wednesday 3 May on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
During the Wednesday episode, Lauer and DeGeneres celebrated the 20-year anniversary of their personal and professional milestones. "You celebrated the 20th anniversary of an episode that changed millions of lives and I just celebrated 20 years hosting the Today's show," he told the Daytime Emmy Award winning host.
Lauer then shifted his focus on their forthcoming 60th birthdays and Trump's war against the media, but Ellen was quite not into the discussion and was finally successful in changing the conversation towards Matt's co-host Savannah Guthrie's taste in music.
And just when Lauer thought he was at ease, a man dressed up as Guthrie popped up from the infamous coffee table. The Today's show host was so unprepared for Ellen's prank that he jumped out of his chair and shrieked.
"It's so petty," he told to a giggling Ellen. "It's so childish. You promised. Now I wet my suit. It's the only suit I have. And I'm wearing your underwear in this suit." "That was one of my favourites. That was my favourite so far," the Finding Dory star replied.
Ellen is notorious for pranking her high profile guests, including Ben Affleck, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Kellie Pickler, Simone Biles, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Lea Michele. With Lauer, she has been in a prank war since last few years. It appeared the show hosts had called for a truce in January this year.
But with Ellen's ceasefire violation, it appears the prank war is back on.
