England end Bangladesh's impressive home run in ODIs by clinching series: Twitter reaction
Bangladesh's last ODI series defeat came against India in June 2014.
England have become the first team since June 2014 to clinch a One Day International (ODIs) series victory over Bangladesh in the latter's own backyard. The Three Lions sealed a 2-1 series win after defeating the Tigers by four wickets in the third and final ODI at Chittagong on 12 October.
Stand-in captain Jos Buttler was leading the side in the absence of Eoin Morgan for the ODI series. England, registered a win in the first ODI, but allowed Bangladesh to level after they sealed a victory in the second ODI.
In the second match of the series, the host nation's star duo of Mashrafe Mortaza and Sabbir Rahman were fined 20% of their match fee for violating ICC's article 2.1.7. Meanwhile, Buttler was handed an "official reprimand" for breaching ICC's code of conduct for his behaviour after his dismissal.
Tensions were high and both teams were looking to clinch a victory in the final ODI to seal the series win. However, it was England who came on top as Adil Rashid and Sam Billings inspired the visitors to beat Bangladesh in the third match.
It has been Bangladesh's first series defeat at home since losing to India in 2014. In this period, they went on to register victories over Pakistan, South Africa and India.
