Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham Learn Europa League Fate

Liverpool will face Udinese, Newcastle will play Bordeaux while Tottenham Hotspur are paired with Lazio

Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have all been handed presentable draws in the Europa League.

After The Reds and Newcastle beat Hearts and Atromitos respectively to reach the group stages, following Tottenham's fifth place finish in the Premier League, the trio will all feel confident of reaching the last 32.

Brendan Rodgers' side have been drawn with Italian side Udinese, who narrowly missed out on qualification for the Champions League, Young Boys from Switzerland,and Anzhi from Russian, whose big spending has made waves across Europe.

Newcastle United, in their first season in Europe since the 2006/07 campaign, will face Ligue 1 side Bordeaux, Belgium's Club Brugge and Martimo from Portugal.

Manager Alan Pardew: "It's great draw in terms of traveling, all pretty accessible. The competition is strong, but could be worse. We're pleased with it."

Tottenham, whose manager Andre Villas-Boas became the youngster manager to win the Europa League in 2011, will play Greek side Panathianaikos, Slovenia's Maribor, and Italian giants Lazio.

Elsewhere, holders Athletico Madrid will face Hapoel Tel-Aviv, Victoria Plzen, Academica while PSV Eindhoven and Napoli will face FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and AIK.

The top two sides from each of the 12 groups will qualify for the knock-out stages, and will be joined by the eight third place sides from the Champions League groups.

The group phase will begin on Thursday 20 September and climax on 6 December, with the first knock-out stages due to start on 14 February, with the second legs on the 21 February.

The final will take place on 15 May at Ajax's Amsterdam Arena.
