Game of Thrones: Kit Harington drops shocking season 7 teaser and it is related to the R+L=J theory
Popular fan theory claimed Jon Snow's Targaryen lineage based on the flashback Tower of Joy scene.
A popular Game of Thrones fan theory predicted that Jon Snow is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, which was further teased by the Tower of Joy scene during season 6 finale.
With just 4 days left until the season 7 premiere on Sunday, 16 July, looks like Kit Harington – who plays the bastard King – has dropped a major spoiler confirming something that fans have been waiting to see "for a very long time".
After teasing that the upcoming season of the HBO fantasy series is going to be "extraordinary", the actor hinted on what fans should (or rather shouldn't expect) from GOT S07.
"I don't think you should look too much for closure at this stage in the game," Harington warned adding,
"but you definitely do see some meetings that you've been waiting for for a very long time."
He further teased, "This season moves at an incredible pace, and one that we're used to from Thrones. A lot happens in a very short space of time, and for that reason, it's completely different from other season there's been."
But, whose meeting is the actor talking about and how is it related to the infamous R+L=J theory? Thankfully, Harington's cryptic answers can be understood better in the light of a recent interview of Game of Thrones' costume designer Michele Clapton.
While talking about the Ned Stark-inspired costume for the King in the North, Clapton went on to confirm a huge spoiler from season 7 – Jon's fateful meeting with Queen Daenerys Targaryen. Not only will the two finally cross paths, but also a vulnerable moment can be expected upon their reunion.
"We had a lot of discussions about does the cape give him presence or is it better to not have that presence," the costume designer said teasing Jon's new look. "There are times when we removed it because we wanted him to be more vulnerable. Especially I think, when he saw Dany, and he went to see her for the first time in her chamber."
Now, this brings us closer to the theory about Jon's Targaryen lineage. With hints about the Northern King and the Mother of Dragons colliding in Game of Thrones season 7 and the previous season's flashback scenes from Jon's birth, it's just a matter of time before Harington's character learns newer truths.
Game of Thrones season 7 episode airs on Sunday at 9pm EST on HBO.
