Gary Neville tells Manchester United to snub Paris Saint-Germain bid for Angel Di Maria
Manchester United legend Gary Neville has said the club should keep Angel Di Maria at Old Trafford, especially if Paris Saint-Germain's latest offer for the Argentina international is as low as £28.5m ($44.3m).
The former Real Madrid star has been heavily linked with a move to the Ligue 1 side in recent days after he failed to join up with the rest of the Manchester United squad on their pre-season tour of the US.
Louis van Gaal himself refused to explain the situation, saying: "I have heard that [Di Maria] is not on the plane so I cannot say anything. He was not on the plane, and Marcos Rojo was also not on the plane. He has passport issues, which I do know. But Di Maria, I do not know why."
And PSG boss Laurent Blanc stoked the fires of rumour, confirming he had big hopes of securing the services of Di Maria.
"Regarding Angel di Maria, the case is close to being completed. I am quite positive on this case," he is quoted as saying by Goal.
Reports from France Football claimed that the agreement would be reached for a fee of around £44m, but The Guardian later revealed that PSG had offered just £28.5m.
Neville has now urged Van Gaal to snub that bid, which would see United lose nearly half of the £59.7m fee they paid for him just a year ago to break the incoming British transfer record.
"I'd keep him if that's true!!" Nevilled tweeted, while adding a link to the reports.
Neville had previous said on social media that his old team should sign a world-class replacement before parting ways with Di Maria, as he did not want to rely on Memphis Depay in his debut season at Old Trafford.
