Geri Halliwell gets the man that she really, really wants as she weds F1 boss Christian Horner
"Two became one" as Geri Halliwell tied the knot to Formula One boss Christian Horner. The couple, who got engaged in November 2014 after dating for less than a year.
The former Spice Girl, famed for her flamboyant style and that Union Jack dress, ditched Ginger for something altogether more traditional and demure for her big day.
The 42-year-old looked radiant in a full-skirted white lace dress and a long veil as she made her way into the picturesque St. Mary's church in Woburn, Bedfordshire, for the ceremony on Friday 15 May.
The couture lace gown had a fitted bodice embellished with long lace sleeves, while the A line skirt was made up of several.
Her trademark ginger locks were replaced with softer brunette tresses, just visible underneath her veil.
And while the bride was resplendent, it was also a very nice day for a white wedding. The guests made the most of the sunshine as they assembled at the doorway of the church ahead of the nuptials. But it wasn't the overblown star-studded affair you might expect. Instead, Geri invited her closest friends for the intimate wedding in the Milton Keynes church.
Geri's former band mate Emma Bunton attended along with her partner singer Jade Jones. However, there was no sign of the other Spice Girls Mel C, Mel B or Victoria Beckham.
With the exception of Melanie Brown, they had recently all reunited in Marrakesh for David Beckham's 40th birthday bash, but oddly they were nowhere to be seen on Geri's big day.
Victoria did, however, send a heartfelt message to Geri on Twitter along with a throwback image of the pair in the heyday of the Spice Girls. She tweeted: "Sending u love and happiness so sad I couldn't be with you on your special day x I love u x"
Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, who had joined the band for the Comic Relief version of Who Do You Think You Are? went some way to make up for the absence of the original Spice Girls. Singer Myleene Klass and TV presenter Amanda Holden couldn't hide their excitement as they shared the happy occasion.
Also absent were the groom's parents. According to The Mirror, the 42-year-old had been left "disappointed" after Horner's parents refused to attend the nuptials.
"Geri and Christian are disappointed that his parents aren't coming, but all his brothers, close family and pals will be there," a source told the UK newspaper. "It is going to be a great day so they aren't over thinking it."
Although it is not known why Horner's mother and father have chosen not to attend, it has been suggested that they blame Halliwell for the collapse of Horner's 14-year relationship with former partner, Beverley Allen, just months after she gave birth to their first daughter, Olivia.
Sealed with a kiss
However, the newly weds weren't going to let anything spoil their big day. Halliwell and the 41-year-old F1 boss sealed the wedding with a kiss on the steps of the church. The two posed for photos before they were then whisked away in a black Rolls Royce.
Earlier Halliwell hinted at her excitement, posting a series of pictures on Twitter. Beginning the day with a blushing smiley face she tweeted "Something old, Something New, Something Blue" posting pictures of a pair of pearl droplet earrings, lace from her dress and a blue bow.
Though this will be her first trip down the aisle, The Mi Chico Latino hitmaker previously dated Chris Evans, Russell Brand and Robbie Williams and was once engaged to the Italian shipping tycoon Fabrizio Politi. She also has an eight-old daughter Bluebell from her romance with screenwriter Sacha Gervasi.
