Athlete to watch
Joanna Rowsell: The Olympic track champion turn road racer returns to the boards to attempt to claim her first Commonwealth medal. The 25 year old goes in the individual pursuit where there is genuine hope among the British contingent with Katie Archibald of Scotland and Wales' Elnor Barker also competing. An individual pursuit world title won in Cali earlier this year gives a good indication to Rowsell's form.
Event to watch
Men's 100m backstroke final: The Games may only play host to 71 countries and territories but often we get an event which showcases the world's best. In Mitch Larkin and Ben Treffers we have among Australia's best hopes for gold on day two in the pool. Both will be expected to dip under 54 seconds in Glasgow and with England's Chris Walker-Hebborn also in the field, we could be in for a terrific race.
Anything else?
England's women start their Netball campaign against local neighbours Wales in the morning before Nick Matthew continues his route towards retaining gold in the last 16 phase, after making short work of his opponent on day one. Michael Jamieson is in the pool again in the 100m breaststroke semi-final while England's shooting sensation Amber Hill goes in the women's skeet.
