Grammys 2016: Beyonce to perform new single Formation at awards ceremony?
There may be a last-minute addition to the line-up at the Grammys 2016 with rumours suggesting Beyonce could perform. Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift are among the acts confirmed to hit the stage at the Los Angeles awards ceremony but they may have to make space for queen Bey's arrival.
Preparations are under way at LA's Staples Center for the music awards ceremony, which will be hosted by rapper LL Cool J and set to take place on 15 February. Billboard has been given backstage access at the venue ahead of the ceremony and shared a photo on Instagram of what it claims is Beyonce's dressing room. Alongside the photo, which shows a dimly lit room with sweeping red curtains and white sofas, the caption read: "Sneak peek into Beyoncé's#GRAMMYs dressing room."
It is believed Beyonce was always scheduled to attend the awards ceremony but her reportedly needing a designated dressing room has led to speculate that she has been added as a performer. If the pop star does take to the stage, it is likely she will perform her new single, Formation, which she debuted earlier in February and is expected to feature on an upcoming album. The controversial track sees the singer addressing a range of issues from racial tension to feminism and the Black Lives Matter movement.
The 34-year-old will be heading out on her Formation world tour starting in April 2016 spanning 38 dates across North America and Europe. Although she will be in attendance at the Grammys, Beyonce has not been nominated with her last album released in 2013 and only one song officially released in 2015, Runnin' (Lose It All), a collaboration with British music producer Naughty Boy. A seating chart leaked from behind-the-scenes at the Grammys shows Beyonce will be sitting front row alongside producer Jeff Bhasker.
