Great Wolf Lodge Poconos Double Murder Turns on Outside Knives Brought Into Family Waterpark
Investigators are treating the deaths of a father and his three-year-old son as an isolated domestic incident

A mother accused of stabbing her husband and 3-year-old son to death at a Great Wolf Lodge on 12 October used knives that the resort staff said were not the type supplied by the lodge, court records show, raising questions over how the blades reached the family waterpark.
Knives the Lodge Says It Never Supplied
Monroe County prosecutors charged Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, of Towanda, with two counts of criminal homicide after police found her husband Charles Harrison and the couple's three-year-old son dead in a guest room at the Scotrun resort. Officers recovered a large butcher knife on the bathroom floor and a smaller knife on the sink, both with teal handles. Lodge staff told investigators that neither blade matched anything the resort supplies, according to the arrest affidavit.
Investigators have treated the deaths as a domestic case confined to one room, not a threat moving through the resort. The reported distinction between the knives and the resort's supplies does not establish where the blades originated.
A 911 Call Asking for Help Dying
Harrison called 911 herself at about 3:13pm on 12 October, telling a dispatcher she was suicidal and 'too weak to stab my neck', the affidavit states. When asked whether she was alone, she allegedly said her husband and son were 'already gone in the bed' and did not ask for help for either.
Officers met her at the doorway with cuts to her left wrist and puncture wounds to her neck. Inside, Charles Harrison lay on a mattress with multiple stab wounds to the chest, while the boy, named in court records only by his initials, had a single wound. Police catalogued between 80 and 90 pieces of evidence.
In the ambulance, Harrison told medics, 'Everyday, I work so hard. To be the best person, the best mother, the best wife. It wasn't supposed to end like this.' Surveillance showed the family last entering the room on the evening of 11 October, with the door not seen opening until officers arrived.
How the Resort Kept Its Doors Open
Great Wolf Lodge relocated nearby guests, cordoned off the section around the room, and carried on operating while police worked the scene. In a statement, the company said it was 'deeply saddened and heartbroken by a tragic domestic incident' and called it 'an isolated family incident'.
Spokesperson Jason Lasecki said law enforcement 'determined it was an isolated family incident and quickly verified there was no ongoing security concern'. Pocono Township police echoed that the case posed no threat to the public. The family had checked in on 21 September and extended the stay through a 13 October checkout.
A Motive Police Still Cannot Explain
District Attorney Mike Mancuso called the killings a 'violent domestic tragedy' and said the reason behind them remains unclear. 'That's one of the most perplexing questions,' he told reporters.
Harrison, who declined to speak with detectives after being read her rights, remains hospitalised. Autopsies for both victims are set for later this week, Coroner Thomas Yanac said. She faces a preliminary hearing, with no attorney listed in the court docket. For families still padding through the waterpark, the resort's position is that the threat stayed inside one room.
