Isaiah Washington is all set to reprise his role as Dr Preston Burke in an upcoming episode of Grey's Anatomy season 10.

Ellen Pompeo who plays Meredith Grey on the show recently posted the first photo of her former co-star back on set, reports The Huffington Post.

She posted the photo below on Instagram and captioned it: "BURKE IS BACK #itsallgoodinthehood #burkeisback."

Washington also tweeted a behind-the-scenes photo of himself in scrubs:

The guest appearance will mark Washington's return to the show seven years after he was fired for making anti-gay remarks directed at former cast member T.R. Knight.

"Now, Grey's will begin to wrap up Cristina Yang's (Sandra Oh) storyline as Oh readies to exit the series and Washington will be back to reprise his role as her former fiancé, Dr. Preston Burke," states the Huffington Post report.

According to an earlier Enstars report, his appearance will play a significant role in the departure of Sandra Oh's character, Dr Cristina Yang, at the end of the season.

"It's important to me that Cristina's journey unfolds exactly as it should," said show creator Shonda Rhimes in a statement. "Burke is vital to that journey - he gives her story that full-circle moment we need to properly say goodbye to our beloved Cristina Yang."

After Washington read the script, he told Access Hollywood, "The script is so amazing, it will blow you away."
