Vinnie Jones Attacks Immigrants and Weather in England
Vinnie Jones has launched a stinging attack on England from his adopted home in sun-kissed Los Angeles.
Former football hardman Jones, whose career highlights include winning the FA Cup and grabbing Paul Gascoigne's crown jewels as a player for Wimbledon, told Radio Times magazine that his homeland is today like a foreign country.
"There's nothing to come back to here. To me, England is past its sell-by date," moaned Jones.
"It's not the country I grew up in. It's a European country now. If someone blindfolded you and put you on a plane in LA, and you landed at Heathrow and they took it off, you wouldn't have a clue where you were.
"I just think we should get our own house in order before we open our doors. It's mind-boggling to me."
Perhaps the Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels star feels England has changed too much from the kind of society portrayed by Guy Ritchie's 1998 film. Other people might think this is not such a bad thing.
Jones relocated to the United States after quitting football to pursue a career on the silver screen. Despite appearing alongside Brad Pitt in Snatch, Jones' output has featured mainly B-movies in which he plays violent criminals or hooligans.
Nowadays, he spends his time by playing golf almost every day. "The weather in England is depressing," he said. "People say you can get bored of the sunshine in LA. No, you can't. I play golf six days a week."
