HTC phones expected to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade with Sense 7

Well-known developer and the creator of Maximus HD ROM, who runs the Twitter handle, LlabTooFeR, has posted a list of HTC devices eligible to get the new Android flavour. HTC has so far confirmed the upgrade for One M9 and One M9+.

However, LlabTooFeR claims that Desire Eye, 816, 820, 826, One M8, M8s, M8 Eye, E8, One ME, E9, E9+ Butterfly 2 and 3 will also make it to the list along with the M9 series. HTC's software release will blend Sense version 7 with Android Marshmallow goodies.

He adds that this is an initial list and some HTC handsets like Desire 816 might not receive the software due to lack of internal storage. Also, HTC's popular One series handset - One M7 - failed to make it to the list because it is a two-year-old model.

As long as the Android developer community continues its support for the One M7, there is hope. With the custom ROMs based on the stock Android Marshmallow, you can always experience Google's latest Android iteration on One M7 or other HTC models, although unofficially. Just ensure that your phone is rooted and running latest custom recovery.
