Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich Update Launching in UK on 19 March
Earlier today, we heard that Samsung was launching the official Android 4.0 update for the Samsung Galaxy S2 in Europe and elsewhere, with the UK set to get it next week on 19 March, however you could be waiting a little longer as networks add their specific tweaks.
Today early in the morning Samsung confirmed officially that new operating system is available in Europe. However consumers in UK will have to wait until 19 March to commence their upgrade to Android 4.0 while Poland, Hungary, Sweden and Korea will receive the first wave of updates. Samsung will officially push out the update to networks such as O2, Orange and Three who may then add their own tweaks to the software, delaying the update even further.
The update is set to bring features like Face Unlock, Snapshot, Photo Editor and others for Galaxy S2 owners. There is no word on when the upgrade will be rolled out for users in US.
Other Samsung devices set to receive these updates include the Galaxy Note, Galaxy S II LTE and the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 duo. Meanwhile some users have reported to different tech websites that they have already received the upgrade in some parts of Europe.
