iOS 8 Beta Successfully Jailbroken
There is some good news for the jailbreak community, as renowned iOS hacker Stefan Esser (aka i0n1c) has successfully demonstrated the ability to jailbreak his iPod Touch running iOS 8 from his Mac.
The veteran hacker has posted a screenshot (above) depicting the ability to SSH into an iPod Touch running iOS 8 via the Mac, according to iClarified.
Earlier, he had demonstrated a low-level jailbreak for iOS 7.1.1 and had sounded positive about an impending jailbreak for iOS 8.
i0n1c tweeted that iOS 8 beta does not fix any existing exploits being used in the evasi0n7 jailbreak. However, he revealed that the kernel dump looked fine despite the code being changed with a certain lack of patches to fix existing bugs or loopholes in the software.
Here is what i0n1c tweeted while sounding positive about an impending iOS 8 jailbreak:
It is not yet clear if the hack used by i0n1c has the capability to run Cydia in iOS 8. Besides, i0n1c is unlikely to release the public jailbreak for iOS 8 although he might contribute to its development in co-ordination with the Evad3rs Dream Team.
It is likely that a public release of iOS 8 jailbreak will have to wait until Apple rolls out the iOS 8 Gold Master or the final release.
