iOS 6.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak: How to Jailbreak iPhone 4S with Evasi0n 1.3 [Video]
Much to the delight of jailbreakers, Apple released the latest iOS 6.1.1 update for the iPhone 4S (to address the ensuing 3G issues with the device) on Monday, 11 February. Planetbeing's recent revelation that the evasi0n untethered jailbreak is compatible with iOS 6.1.1 adds to the joy of millions of jailbreaking fans across the globe.
As iDownloadBlog notes, the Evad3rs Dream Team has also lived up to their promise with the release of the latest evasi0n v1.3 update, which now brings support for iOS 6.1.1 untethered jailbreak on the iPhone 4S. Those who have not yet jailbroken their device on iOS 6 and those who want to explore the new iOS 6.1.1 update, can now re-jailbreak their iPhone 4S using the latest version of evasi0n.
However, users must note that installing the latest iOS 6.1.1 update will also upgrade their existing iPhone 4S' baseband and thereby disable the unlock capability with Ultrasn0w. So, those interested in unlocking their device are advised to hold off the new iOS update for now, and wait until a new baseband preservation update comes up for newer iOS devices including the iPhone 4S.
Jailbreak users may opt to use the earlier Redsn0w with evasi0n tool method or the regular untethered jailbreak technique used with evasi0n 1.2 (NOTE: Steps are exactly same as before). Here are the steps:
Step 1: Download Evasi0n v1.3 [Windows,Mac, Linux]
Step 2: Download iOS 6.1.1 firmware update for iPhone 4S and update your device to the latest iOS version using iTunes. NOTE: Do not update via OTA as it may create issues with jailbreak.
Step 3: Follow our step-by-step instructions to jailbreak iOS 6.1.1 with Redsn0w and evasi0n here and our detailed guide on how to jailbreak iOS 6.1 here.
