The opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 will take place in Mumbai's The Dome @ NSCI-SVP Stadium on 8 April (Friday). The event will see both Indian and global artistes perform in front of the live audience, a day before the first match of the ninth edition of the tournament.
Where to watch live
The opening ceremony starts at 3pm BST/7:30pm IST. There is no live coverage in the UK. In India, Set Max, Sony Six, Sony Six HD, Sony ESPN and Sony ESPN HD will telecast the opening ceremony of the IPL 2016. Mobile and tablet users can live stream using Hotstar app.
Performances
The major attraction of the opening ceremony will be American singer Chris Brown. This will be his first performance in India and the singer will be looking to entertain both present and former cricketers and also the crowd present during the event.
American electronic music group Major Lazer will also be performing on Friday. Their famous track Lean On featuring vocalist MØ was shot in India and the cricket crazy fans will be hoping the same would be played in Mumbai during the opening ceremony.
The international artistes will be joined by Bollywood celebrities, which includes the likes of Ranveer Singh, Katrina Kaif and Jacqueline Fernandez. In addition to them, India rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh will also be performing.
