Jimmy Savile Inquiry: Freddie Starr released on bail
The Comedian Freddie Starr who was arrested by Police yesterday following claims that he molested an under-age girl in the 1970's. Has been released on bail, following, a number of hours of questioning, as part of Operation Yewtree. Which is investigating wide spread claims of sexual abuse committed by Jimmy Savile and 'others' in the past thirty years
The arrest came days after the 69-year-old comedian denied claims that he groped a 14-year-old girl in Savile's BBC dressing room. And this high profile arrest follows that of ex-pop star Gary Glitter real name Paul Gadd, who was arrested on Sunday and bailed until December, after being questioned as part of the inquiry.
Police have said, "Both of these men and arrests falls under the strand of the investigation, we have termed Savile and others." As Savile is now believed to have been one of the UK's most prolific abusers, with about 300 possible victims. The investigation is on going.
