Jose Aldo lashes out at the UFC and Conor McGregor, says the promotional company is in a mess
Aldo is unhappy with the UFC over the handling of MMA fighters.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion Jose Aldo has hit out at the promotional company and Irishman Conor McGregor claiming that it was just a matter of time before he would be champion again.
The Brazilian, who suffered an embarrassing defeat at the hands of McGregor during UFC 194 where he was knocked out in just 13 seconds, also took aim at the company for its handling of the fighters. He believes that the company is currently messed up with the deserving fighters not given title opportunities.
"The UFC has been a mess for a while now. Not only for myself, it's been happening way before that. It embarrassed featherweight and now it embarrasses lightweight. Khabib Nurmagomedov signed two contracts to fight for the title and still hasn't fought for the title. We also have Demian Maia waiting at welterweight and Ronaldo Jacare is waiting for even longer than that", Aldo said, as quoted by Pundit Arena.
"It's cool for me, I was a dominant champion for a long time, but what about Jacare's situation? He's always winning and doesn't get his title shot. They tell him he'll fight for the title and he never does. And it never seems he will. It's a generalized mess."
The 30-year-old, who is one of the better known faces in the MMA circuit, also took aim at Conor McGregor with it being widely known that Aldo is not a big fan of the current lightweight champion.
"I knew I would be the champion and he (McGregor) knows what happened to me in that fight will never happen again. It was known I would be the champion again so I don't have a problem with the way that it happened. I've always said that having the belt around my waist is all that matters. No matter what, I'm the champion. I don't care what the coach says. Who is his coach anyways? I don't know who he is or him. They're all pieces of s**t."
Aldo was last seen in action at the UFC 200 event that took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on 9 July.
