Episode 22 is titled The Cognition Regeneration, where actor Brian Thomas Smith will return as Penny's ex-boyfriend Jack. The official synopsis for the chapter reads, "Leonard isn't thrilled when Penny considers taking a new job offered by her ex-boyfriend, Zack (Brian Thomas Smith), on The Big Bang Theory."
In the previous episode, Sheldon and Amy hosted a special show titled Fun With Flags: Behind the Flags: A Retrospective and during its live session, Bert called to announce he has a girlfriend.
Later the gang meets Bert's girlfriend Jessica for dinner and Sheldon immediately points out, "She is younger and far more attractive than he is" and looks at Leonard and Penny and blurts, "They are copying you two."
