Katy Perry Thanks Fans For support After Brand Split
Pop Star Katy Perry has thanked fans for their support following the announcement that her and estranged husband Russell Brand are set to divorce.
The 27-year-old singer spoke out on Twitter for the first time after it was revealed that the couple had called time on their 14 month marriage and reassured fans that she was coping with the split.
She thanked fans for their good wishes and kindness by tweeting: "I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again."
She later posted a message urging fans not to listen to 'gossip' surrounding the collapse of her marriage which read: "Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, 'close sources' or my family (sic)."
The couple tied the knot in a lavish wedding in India in October 2010. However, jus months into the marriage, rumours began to circulate that their relationship was on the rocks after they were rarely seen together in public.
Despite the couple showing a united front and publically denying that there was any trouble in paradise, speculation continued to mount when the couple spent Christmas Day 7000 miles apart following a reported heated argument.
At all came to a head on December 30 when Brand revealed that he had filed for divorce from the I Kissed a Girl hitmaker.
The couple have not yet publicly discussed the reasons behind the split although Brand citied "irreconcilable differences" when he filed the divorce papers.
