Overview

Kings XI Punjab come into the game after a much needed win over the Delhi Daredevils in their previous match with some precision bowling in the death overs. That has been their main strength in the tournament, and will come in handy against the Challengers, whose main strength is their batting. Mohit Sharma, Sandeep Sharma and Marcus Stoinis have been leading the way on the bowling front, with the latter also contributing with the bat in the previous game.

Murali Vijay's appointment as captain has made them look a better team, with the former Chennai Super Kings batsman making good decisions in bowling and field placement. The form of David Miller and Glen Maxwell continues to be a cause for concern, but if they come into form in the second half of the league campaign, we could see the Punjab Lions make headway on the table.

Royal Challengers, meanwhile, are also coming into the game on the back of a much needed win following three straight losses. Virat Kohli scored his second hundred of the tournament to chase down Pune Supergiants' 191-run target with relative ease. The Bangalore team, who are rank outsiders to make the playoffs, are struggling with their bowling. They are missing a frontline bowler, who can take wickets early in the innings. Shane Watson bowled well in the previous game, but will need to be backed up by the rest if they are to have any hope of restricting their opponents.

The Challengers have a big game coming up against the Mumbai Indians at home on Wednesday and will be keen to continue their momentum and avoid dropping to the last place in the table, which can happen if they lose on Monday.

There could be a change in the team, despite their victory against the Supergiants with Kedhar Jadhav being roped in to replace Sachin Baby, and take over the wicket keeping gloves from part-timer K L Rahul, who has missed a few key stumping chances in recent games.
