Lindsey Vonn opens up about her breakup with Tiger Woods: 'It was essentially being in a fish bowl'
The couple dated for 3 years and called it quit in May 2015.
Lindsey Vonn has opened up about her very public breakup with Tiger Woods and discussed her current status with the famous golfer, while promoting her new book Strong Is The New Beautiful.
Vonn told E! Online, "We're friends. It's nice to be able to stay in touch with him, but yeah, we're just at different places in our lives, but he's still a friend." Speaking about her breakup with Woods, she revealed that it felt like "essentially being in a fish bowl".
The Olympic ski racer said, "It was really hard. The breakup, being together, it was all really hard. It was essentially being in a fish bowl. Everybody's looking at you and judging you and commenting on what they think is right or wrong and it was hard."
However, the 31-year-old athlete maintained that the entire incident made her stronger. She said, "But that's one thing that made me stronger. Being able to block out the noise and block out other people's opinions, and honestly it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks as long as you're happy."
Previously, while appearing on Running Wild With Bear Grylls, Vonn opened up about still being in love with Woods and why their relationship didn't work out. "I mean, I loved him so much, and I still do. It just didn't work, you know?"It was too much with his competition schedule and mine, and he has two kids. We're still on good terms, we're friends. But it was really hard," she told host of her relationship with the pro golfer.
The couple dated for three years and called it quit in May 2015. Vonn announced the split in a Facebook post and said, "I will always cherish the memories that we've created together. Unfortunately, we both lead incredibly hectic lives that force us to spend a majority of our time apart.
"I will always admire and respect Tiger. He and his beautiful family will always hold a special place in my heart," she added.
