Liverpool 'gang rape': Teenager becomes 13th person arrested over Anfield sex assault
Merseyside Police have arrested a 13th person in connection with a suspected gang rape of a woman at her Anfield home.
The 14-year-old boy, from the Norris Green area, attended a police station yesterday evening (5 February) and was arrested.
He was interviewed by detectives and released on police bail pending further enquiries.
His arrest came after a CCTV appeal was launched by specialist detectives from the Matrix Serious Organised Crime to find two youths they believed held information about the incident.
Paramedics called police after they attended the victim's Ullswater Street home at 4.20pm on 24 September to reports a woman had been subjected to a sexual offence.
The victim had been taken to hospital and was in a distressed state.
Following extensive investigations and forensic examinations at the scene detectives believe that the 43-year-old woman had been subjected to a sexual assault.
The victim has been supported by the Unity team and specially trained officers, while detectives work to ascertain the identity of those responsible.
Twelve males (aged between 12 and 19 years) and a 15-year-old girl have been arrested in connection with the incident and they have been bailed pending further inquiries.
Those arrested are: an 18-year-old man from Anfield; two 13-year-old boys from Anfield; two 16-year-old boys from Anfield; two 15-year-old boys from Anfield; a 17-year-old boy from Anfield, a 15-year-old boy from Walton; a 12-year-old boy from Anfield; a 13-year-old boy from Old Swan; a 15-year-old from Old Swan, a 19-year-old from Everton and a 15-year-old girl from Anfield.
