Liverpool Prepare £12m Bid for Brazilian Defender – Report
Liverpool have presented Granada with a formal written offer for defender Guilherme Siqueira as Brendan Rodgers looks to bring in cover for first choice left-back Jose Enrique.
Having allowed Jack Robinson so join Blackpool on loan, the Liverpool boss is short of options and has made it clear that he wants to sign another left-back in order to provide competition for Enrique.
The Spanish defender initially struggled to impress Rodgers but gradually began to produce more consistent performances towards the end of the season. However, it seems his place in the first team could come under threat if the Merseyside club complete a deal for Siqueira.
Spanish newspaper AS report that Liverpool have made an offer for the Granada full-back which is believed to be in the region of £12m.
They suggest that the Brazilian has already made it clear that he is 'very interested' in joining Liverpool after learning that a dream move to Real Madrid was unlikely to happen.
The Spanish giants were believed to be interested in signing Siqueira but there full attention has been given to trying to persuade Tottenham Hotspur to part with star player Gareth Bale.
This has now paved the way for Liverpool to become the favourites to land Siqueira who would have no problem getting a visa as he has a Spanish passport and is hoping to one day earn a call-up for La Roja.
Liverpool may be forced to negotiate over the coming days though as AS reports that the left-back has a release clause of £21m in his current contract.
Rodgers has twice managed to successfully complete deals with Spanish clubs this summer having signed Luis Alberto from Sevilla and Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo, and will be keen to tie up a move for Siqueira who made 35 league appearances for Granada last season.
