Liverpool Prepare Shock Move for Bayern Munich Defender Jerome Boateng - Report
Liverpool have earmarked Bayern Munich goalkeeper Jerome Boateng for a move in the summer, according to the Metro.
The Reds have more or less secured a place in the top four this season which will see them qualify for the Champions League after five years in exile.
Brendan Rodgers is the one who has turned their fortunes around since making his way to Anfield from Swansea. He is now looking to bolster his defence which has shipped in 39 goals this season, something that needs to be addressed if the Merseyside club have to put in a concerted effort for the title.
Boateng has been the mainstay of the Bayern defence and will need a major offer from Liverpool to prise him away to England. The German international has played a major role in Bayern's second consecutive Bundesliga win.
Boateng has made 28 appearances in the league for Bayern and has been a rock in defence through the length of the campaign. This is something that Liverpool need to cement themselves among the league leaders.
It will be a major show of intent from the Reds, who have spent a lot of money over the last few years but have always come up short in performance.
However, with the advent of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge in a new partnership this season, the Reds have shown that they have the talent to take on anyone in the league.
Chelsea's loss to Crystal Palace and Manchester City's draw against Arsenal have put the title race wide open yet again with all three teams in with a chance to crown themselves as Champions.
Liverpool know that the title is up for grabs with seven games yet to go in this campaign. A win in each will see them lift the premier league trophy for the first time in 24 years.
