Liverpool Set to Make £15m Bid to Land Manchester United Target Sami Khedira
Liverpool are reportedly set to make a £15m bid to land Manchester United and Arsenal target Sami Khedira, according to the Metro
The Real Madrid midfielder has been linked to United, Arsenal and Chelsea over the summer and now the Reds seem to have entered the race looking to beat their rivals to the German international's signature.
Moreover, Real have made it clear to Khedira that he is surplus to requirements and are looking to cash-in on the player, who has been blighted by injuries off late.
Liverpool are looking to add some much-needed steel into their midfield, which saw them drop valuable points during the previous campaign. Reds boss Brendon Rodgers wants to add a tough tackling midfielder to compliment the array of creative players at his disposal.
The 27-year-old midfielder, who spent most of last season on the sidelines with a major knee injury, only made a comeback to help Real win the Champions League against their city rivals Atletico Madrid. Khedira is currently in Brazil with the German squad on World Cup duty.
However, when fit, Khedira is an integral part of the national team, and has been an ever present member in Real's starting XI over the last four seasons. He adds balance and solidity to any team with his strong tackling and distribution skills.
Meanwhile, Reds striker Luis Suarez, who was destroyer-in-chief in England's defeat to Uruguay had some words of encouragement for his club mate and Three Lions captain Steven Gerrard.
The Uruguayan striker who was responsible for scoring both goals that could potentially end England's World Cup dream went straight to his club captain to console him. Suarez also admitted that the Reds legend was the best player he has ever played with.
"This is an unlucky moment for him; I don't like it when he hurts like this," Suarez said, as quoted in the Daily Mail.
"Keep going, forget this game, you're one of the best," the Uruguay striker said, adding, "He's the best player I've played with."
