Liverpool Youngster Still Open To Loan After Failed Summer Move
Andre Wisdom says he is still open to the possibility of a loan move away from Liverpool after a deal for the youngster to move clubs on a temporary basis fell through in the summer.
Wisdom was set to be sent out on loan to Wigan by Brendan Rodgers as the 20 year old continues to develop his skills. While the youngster has been given opportunities in the first team in the past season incoming defensive signings Aly Cissokho, Tiago Ilori, Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure potentially make opportunities more difficult to come by for Wisdom.
But the youngster was called into action by Liverpool at the last minute after Glen Johnson suffered an injury and has since been handed opportunities in two of the side's league games and also in the Capital One Cup.
But with the imminent return of Johnson, Wisdom admits he would still be interested in spending some time at a club where he will definitely receive regular game time and a chance to prove himself.
He told the Liverpool website: "We've signed a few more defenders and it's obviously going to be harder to get a spot in the team. But I've been given some time to play - it's appreciated and it has been good.
"Every player just wants to play week in, week out. A loan was going to be the best option for me to get that, get the experience I need, keep fit and play every week. I was looking forward to it but that's football and injuries happen. Glen picked up a serious injury against Manchester United; he is recovering quickly.
"I was thinking about going on loan - it didn't happen as soon as maybe I wanted it to, but it's good that I'm still here."
Wisdom says that while he is waiting on a possible loan deal away from Liverpool he wants to give his all to the side whether he's playing or not.
"My objectives are to try to keep myself involved, whether it's playing or on the bench or having an input by coming on if I'm needed," he explained. "And to try to keep improving every day because it's a great environment to do that. That's all I can keep working on.
"I'm determined every day. I come to training and work hard every day, giving all that I can. Hopefully it will lead me on the right path.
"Obviously I need experience - I need more games because I'm still learning. Maybe if I am to go on loan and get that experience I need, I can try to be a key player in the team."
