Hostilities between North Korea and the US are tense as can be, with the threat of a nuclear attack more imminent than ever. While Kim Jong-un has been flexing his missile muscles for a while now, preparing for a showdown, Donald Trump has kicked off a series of very dramatic threats, "the likes of which nobody's ever seen".

Following his threat of unleashing "fire and fury" on the hostile Asian country, on 11 August, the US president took to Twitter to inform the public that "military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely".

"I hope that they are going to fully understand the gravity of what I said," the Potus told reporters from his golf club in New Jersey. "And what I said is what I mean."

With their safety and that of their country at stake, people were quick to react to Trump's comments, comparing his recent statements to lines from a 1990s action movie.

"'Fire and Fury'. 'Locked and Loaded'. Trump's idea of foreign policy sounds like the names of movie series starring @vindiesel and @TheRock," political strategist Ana Navarro commented online.

"Why does Trump speak like he's starring in a awful direct to video 80's film?" another user posted.
