Luxembourg's Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume married Belgian Countess Stephanie de Lannoy at a religious wedding service at Cathedral of Our Lady in Luxembourg on 20 October. The couple were engaged on 29 April and also had a civil wedding service in Luxembourg on 19 October.
The 30 year old Prince Guillaume, the heir apparent to the crown of Luxembourg, and Stephanie, the Hereditary Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, will become the Grand Duke and Duchess of Luxembourg after Guillaume's succession to his father.
The grand wedding took place in the presence of members of the respective families and, among others, constituted bodies of the state, monarchs and representatives of foreign states and monarchies. The public too was invited to take part in the ceremonies. Besides, royal family members from around the world were the A-list guests at the Luxembourg royal wedding. From Britain, Prince Edward and his wife, Countess Sophie of Wessex, attended the wedding.
Belgian and Luxembourg royals apart, the other royal attendees were Princess Caroline of Hanover, Netherlands' Queen Beatrix and Princess Maxima, Spain's Crown Prince Felipe and his wife Princess Letizia, Jordan's Prince Hassan Bin Talal and his wife Princess Sarvath, Morocco's Princess Lalla Salma and Sweden's Prince Carl Philip and Princess Martha Louise of Norway. The huge guest list of Luxembourg royal wedding also saw French actress Clotilde Courau, Princess of Savoy, attending the ceremonies.
William-Kate Wedding Magic Recreated
The newly-wed royal couple brought back memories of UK's royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The bride and groom walked down the aisle of cathedral, waved to the cheering public, exchanged vows and shared a kiss after the wedding on the Grand Ducal Palace balcony. Stephanie's wedding dress, designed by Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab, was as beautiful as Kate's Sarah Burton wedding dress.
The dress with a boat neck-line featured lace embellishment throughout from top till the tail, which was so broad so that two bridesmaids had to carry it. Stephanie made for truly a royal bride in the dress with three-quarter length sleeves and a silk tulle veil. A pair of diamond drop earrings and a tiara completed her bridal ensemble.
