M25 Closed After Junction 9 'Road Collapse' in Surrey Triggers Traffic Chaos

A section of the M25 has collapsed leaving a large pothole following heavy rain.
Three lanes of the anti-clockwise carriageway in Surrey are closed while highway workers clear debris from the road near junction 9.
Surrey Police tweeted: "Not sure why it's failed but there were overnight repairs in that area last night."

Highways Agency workers and police are at currently at the scene.
"We are trying to find out from out the road contractor what is going on but at the moment we just know there is a defect," said an Agency spokesman.
Weather warnings and flood alerts are currently in place across the UK.
The Met Office said Northern Ireland and Scotland can expect windy conditions for much of the day, with northern and eastern parts of Northern Ireland facing gusts of up to 70mph but drier brighter conditions will follow, with showers across the southwest.
