Manchester United fans turn on Ed Woodward after Renato Sanches joins Bayern Munich

Manchester United fans have reacted with anger on social media after the club missed out on long-time transfer target Renato Sanches to Bayern Munich.
Highly-rated Benfica midfielder Sanches, 18, will move to Bavaria in the summer for an initial fee of £27.5m ($40m), with Bayern also announcing that they had agreed a deal to sign centre-back Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund.
Multiple reports say that Louis van Gaal was the one who ended United's interest in signing Sanches in favour of pursuing other targets but this has not spared club chief Ed Woodward from the ire of Red Devils supporters.
Woodward has been in charge of transfer negotiations at Old Trafford since he took over the top operational role at the club from David Gill in 2013.
United have not won a major trophy since that time — despite spending north of £300m on transfers — and look set to miss out on Champions League football next season after a 3-2 defeat against West Ham on 10 May.
Take note, Man Utd, that's how you conduct transfer business.

Mats Hummels and Renato Sanches sign for Bayern Munich on the same day. Ooft!
Bayern sign Sanches, get Hummels from main rivals and have Ancelotti in charge.

Imagine scouting Renato Sanches for 28 games in a row then missing out on him. Ah Ed Woodward, he's a genius @ManUtd

I thought Renato Sanches was a done deal to #MUFC with Mendes and Mourinho leading the charge. Oh, wait a minute, it's Woodward and LVG!

To be fair, Woodward can't win this one. If he had paid more then 80mill and secured Renato he would have been ridiculed for paying so much

You have to congratulate Ed Woodward. This year he has embarrassed us in the transfer market before the summer has even begun.
