Shinji Kagawa
Shinji Kagawa was on form last night alongside Wayne Rooney for Manchester United.

David Moyes has hailed the partnership of Wayne Rooney and Shinji Kagawa as United thrashed Bayer Leverkusen 5-0 in Germany to seal qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

While the side came to BayArena with some caution, with Leverkusen boasting a top-class home record, the second-placed Bundesliga side were no match for United with five different scorers piling on the goals against their opposition.

Both Rooney and Kagawa failed to find the back of the net but the pair formed an unstoppable partnership and Moyes will be faced with a selection headache of the best kind as the side now prepare to face Tottenham in the league.

"Shinji and Wayne played very well," Moyes told Sky Sports, via Goal.com. "Wayne had four assists tonight, and Shinji was terrific as well. Its a long season and we're going to have to make sure we have different combinations for different games, and tonight Wayne and Shinji were very good."

United have been struggling to find consistency in their league form recently and though the side were able to defeat Arsenal before the most recent international break, they couldn't back it up with a win over Cardiff last weekend.

Fans have been pushing Moyes all season to utilise Kagawa more but his limited performances so far have suggested that the Japan international is short of confidence.

Last night though he looked to be back to his best and showing why Jurgen Klopp has had so much faith in him at Borussia Dortmund and asked for his return in the summer.

Kagawa was absent for United's 2-2 draw with Cardiff last weekend but may well be in contention for selection this weekend as the manager looks to back up a big Champions League win with victory in the league as well.
