Manchester United extended their lead over rivals City to four points, after thumping Wolves 5-0. The result means Wolves are now at the bottom of the Premier League.
The Red Devils have now won five consecutive league games and were on the attack, in this game, right from the start. They were rewarded with the lead, on 21 minutes, when defender Jonny Evans scored.
Two more goals - from Ecuadorian winger Antonio Valencia and striker Danny Welbeck - in the closing minutes of the first half concluded a dominant performance by the defending champions.
The second half would be no different. Back-to-back strikes from Mexican striker Javier Hernandez, at around the hour mark, sealed a woeful Wolves' fate.
Things got worse for the hosts, who saw Ronald Zubar sent off in the first half.
