Market round-up: After gold hit mining makes gains on FTSE 100
The FTSE 100 nudged slightly downward Tuesday on a dearth of corporate news and other market indicators.
"Insurance giants Admiral and RSA were buoyed by the AA's latest British Insurance Index which shows that typical shop around quotes rose by 5.2% over the three months to the end of June," said AJ Bell Investment Director Russ Mould.
The market closed Tuesday down -0.29% to finish at 6,769.07p
Mining firms Fresnillo and Randgold made gains from recent lows after gold prices took a hit Monday. Shares of ECR Minerals' gained after tests at the new Itogon gold mine in the northern Philippines returned positive results.
