HSBC has announced that it is considering relocating its headquarters away from the UK Reuters

The FTSE 100 continued its ascent on 27 April as it went up by 0.47% over the course of the day to finish on 7,103.98.

A host of major companies helped boost the FTSE 100 as the likes of Standard Chartered, HSBC and Hargreaves Lansdown all reported rises on the London Stock Exchange.

When HSBC announced on Friday 24 April that it was considering moving its headquarters away from the UK, its shares went up by 2.9% on the day. It began the week in the same positive manner in which it finished the last, with shares going up 3.1% in value.

It was another poor day for Tesco, which saw its stock price decline by almost 2% as the recent announcement of a £6.4bn (€8.9bn, $9.6bn) pre-tax loss continues to play on the mind of financial traders.
