AS Monaco host Juventus in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final at the Stade Louis II as they look to continue their brilliant journey through to the final.

Overview

Monaco have made their way through to the semi-final of the competition for the fourth time in their history but have only made the final once in 2003/04, when they beat Chelsea 5-3 on aggregate. Monaco are going through an impressive campaign in Ligue 1 where they are currently on top of the table, three points ahead of Paris Saint-Germain, with a game in hand over the defending Champions.

However, it is their performances in Europe that have caught the most interest, with the French side defeating Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals 6-3 on aggregate. They have won six of their seven home games in the league scoring 16 goals in the process and are the favourites to win the first leg against the Italian side.

Juventus made it to the semi-final for the second time in three years. The last time was in 2015 when they defeated Real Madrid in the semi-final, only to lose to Barcelona 3-1 in the final. The Turin-based club have won Europe's biggest club competition on two previous occasions, in 1985 and 1996, but will be desperate to crown themselves the Champions after such a harrowing break.

They have been the most defensively mean team in Europe this season, having not conceded a single goal since their 3-1 win over Sevilla on November 22. They defeated Barcelona in the quarter-finals by scoring three goals without reply in the home-leg and managed to keep the Catalans at bay away from home, winning by a 3-0 aggregate.

I think tomorrow will be an important match, even if the tie will be decided in Turin. I think we'll score goals there as we have done in all of our important games. Max Allegri: "The system doesn't change. Khedira is a more physical player and Marchisio has more movement. Claudio is in good shape, has improved a lot over the last month and is an important player we have rediscovered. Monaco play with great pace on vertical lines. They are very different to two seasons ago. Looking at the statistics, it's easy to imagine a game in a certain way, but football is unpredictable. Monaco tend to score a lot in the final stages, so we need to have great respect for this team and get it into our heads that two legs have to be played to the best of our abilities, because this is very complicated."( via Football Italia)
