Team Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso secured his first pole since the opening round of 2015, registering the fastest time in the qualifying session of the Dutch Grand Prix on 25 June. The Italian finished ahead of fellow countryman and favourite Valentino Rossi.

Qualifying review
Italian rider Andrea Dovizioso secured a pole in the Assen circuit in thrilling conditions clocking 1:45.246s, just edging ahead of fellow countryman and favourite Valentino Rossi who clocked 1:45.961s. Pramac's Scott Redding rounded up the top three, finishing behind Dovizioso and Rossi securing his first front-row start in his time at the MotoGP.
