MTV Video Music Awards: MTV Tribute to Robin Williams Branded "Offensive", Fans React on Twitter
The lackluster tribute showed the lack of effort put into its composition.
In the middle of MTV Video Music Awards glamorous ceremony in Los Angeles, an extremely short video reel of pictures of Robin Williams was played on the big screen, as a tribute to the veteran actor.
Set to the Coldplay song A Sky Full of Stars, the 20-second video had just six odd images of him in it. The lackluster compilation showed the lack of effort put into its composition.
Outraged viewers immediately took to Twitter to complain the "offensive" blink-and-you'll-miss-it montage, which some compared to a PowerPoint slide show.
Tyler Aaron Glenn, the lead vocalist and keyboardist of the American pop rock band Neon Trees, was the first one to complain about the lackadaisical tribute to the comedian.
Weirdest transition to a death tribute ever!

Did someone push the "Robin Williams tribute" button by mistake? — Tyler Glenn (@tylerinacoma) August 25, 2014
He continued:
"Let's just shove that Robin Williams tribute in between someone twerking and someone winning some award that doesn't matter" - MTV

That "tribute" to Robin Williams tells you everything you need to know about this show. It would have been less insulting to do nothing. — chad dukes (@chaddukes) August 25, 2014
A Robin Williams tribute sandwiched between a Tresemme ad integration and Fifth Harmony winning an award #VMAs
