Multiple Window Mod for Samsung Galaxy Note [Guide]
The international variant of Samsung Galaxy Note (GT-N7000) will now have the ability to have multiple windows opened up at the same time, thanks to efforts of forum member at XDA known as xperiacle. xperiacle has released a mod known as Floating Multiwindows.
This mod blends the concept of floating apps and multi window. In Android device, floating apps are the apps which can be re-sized and easily moved to different location. Basically, these apps are shown up on the home screen of the device in a window. Multi window is Galaxy Note 2 feature that allows to have two apps visible running simultaneously.
The installation of the mod is pretty easy that allows users to edit the build.prop file followed by flashing of the mod. IBTimes UK reminds its readers it will not be held responsible for any damage to the device during installation.
Pre-requisites:
- Galaxy Note rooted and deodex Jelly Bean XXLSA/XXLSC
- Make a Nandroid backup of the existing ROM
To install the Floating Multiwindow mod on Samsung Galaxy Note:
- Install build prop editor from the Google Playstore and edit ro.sf.lcd_density = 213
- Download the Floating Multiwindow.Mod.XXLSA.zip file and flash via ClockworkMod recovery
- Reboot the device
You have now installed the Floating Multiwindow mod on Galaxy Note.
According to XDA Developers' forum, since this uses a phablet user interface, few apps might not look and work appropriately.
"The ripple lockscreen is gone although there is a mod to restore it somewhere in this thread. The long press Home button to open recent apps is gone but an alternative is to download Recent Apps Quick Button or Notification Toggles from the PlayStore and configure it to be accessed from the notification panel. Stock apps layouts like dialer, voice recorder, etc may be out of place but you can replace it with 240dpi modded apps located in the themes/apps section of the forum," claims xperiacle on the post.
