Music Minute: Justin Bieber explains stage walk-off, MTV EMAs head to Rotterdam
IBTimes UK senior entertainment reporter Alicia Adejobi rounds up this week's music stories.
In this week's Music Minute, Justin Bieber addresses storming off-stage, the MTV EMAs 2016 head to the Netherlands and Clean Bandit team up with Sean Paul for their new single.
Is it too late now for Bieber to say Sorry?
Pop heartthrob Justin Bieber is eating humble pie, with the singer almost apologising for storming off stage at a recent gig. The Sorry hitmaker temporarily halted his show at Manchester Arena on 23 October because fans would not stop screaming.
Addressing the stage walk-off, Bieber wrote in an open letter shared on Twitter: "People tend to want to shut you down. What I mean by that is ... people try to twist things, some people don't want to listen. But I simply feel like, if I didn't use this platform to say how I truly feel, and if I didn't use this platform to be the man that I know I am, and speak from what's in my heart, then I'm doing myself injustice."
Bieber continued: "There's times when I get upset ... times when I get angry, there's times when I'm going to be frustrated. But I'm always going to be myself on this stage." Bieber's Purpose tour wraps up on 29 November before resuming for further legs in February 2017 – will the remainder of the shows go off without a hitch?
MTV EMAs 2016
Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, will play host to the MTV Europe Music Awards 2016 on Sunday (6 November). Popstress Bebe Rexha will do the honours of hosting the awards ceremony while Bruno Mars, OneRepublic, Shawn Mendes, DNCE and Zara Larsson are among performers on the star-studded lineup.
Beyonce and Justin Bieber lead the nominations with five each, including best video, best song and best live, while Adele and Coldplay are also hot contenders.
Clean Bandit new single
British pop-orchestra collective Clean Bandit are back with their new single Rockabye. Featuring dancehall king Sean Paul and rising star Anne-Marie, the track boasts a Caribbean vibe and follows on from Clean Bandit's most recent single Tears, a collaboration with X Factor winner Louisa Johnson.
